Info and FAQs on the LR6 downlight - here

WattWorks does not sell compact fluorescent light bulbs. They contain levels of mercury which are dangerous and unhealthy for the environment when not disposed of properly. We do sell cold cathode fluorescents which are 1/5th the mercury.

LR6 Recognized for breakthrough green attributes

LLF Awarded Top-10 Green Product for 2007 - According to GreenSpec coeditor and BuildingGreen president Alex Wilson, “Until recently LEDs did not approach fluorescent lamps in efficacy and the light quality was not nearly as good as incandescent lamps. LLF has introduced an LED downlight, the LR6 with a measured efficacy of 60 lumens per watt (which is better than CFL downlights) and a color rendering index (CRI) of 92, which is significantly better than most CFLs.”

“The LR6 is the only green recessed downlight that doesn’t compromise aesthetics or function. It delivers more light per watt than the best CFL products and customers perceive the color to be as good as incandescent. In addition, the LR6 looks great in residential and office applications and is dimmable. Finally, the LR6 is made of 100% recycled aluminum and unlike CFL’s the LR6 contains no toxic mercury.” according to Gary Trott, LLF, Inc. VP of Market Development.

The LR6 is designed to last 50,000 hours and substantially reduces the amount of lamp refuse introduced into the waste stream. Mike Fallon, VP of Sales and Marketing noted, “When an incandescent source is replaced by an LR6, one can expect to prevent 30 to 60 bulbs from being thrown into the trash. When CFLs are replaced with an LR6, five to six fewer lamps containing mercury will be discarded to contaminate landfills.”

LR6 Recessed Downlight

LR6C
(silver trim ring shown extra)
The LR6 is a complete recessed downlight trim kit and LED light engine in one unit. It fits standard recessed housings in new construction or as retrofit for existing fixtures. The 6-inch-diameter unit is installed via a dedicated GU-24 base or standard Edison socket, supported by a rotating clip retention system.
This product exceeds the luminaire efficacy of even the most efficient fluorescent downlight systems. The LR6 has a broad distribution of light. The LE6 accessory is an adjustable eyeball trim that allows the user to aim and focus light towards a wall or other large vertical surface.

FAQs

The light output and color quality are very similar to incandescent reflector lamps typically used in residential downlights, for less than one-fifth the wattage.

Each LR6 is individually tested and tuned to the optimal color point before shipment.

Cool versus Warm

Q. What is the difference between the LR6 and the LR6C?

A. The LR6 delivers light at a color temperature of 2700K. This means that it has a warm appearance similar to most incandescent lamps. The 3500K has a cooler appearance and seems to be the preference for commercial environments because its color temperature is closer to a fluorescent.

Q. Why should I buy the LR6 instead of a compact fluorescent light?

A. The LR6 lasts 5 times longer than a CFL. It contains no toxic mercury and provides substantially improved color rendering over fluorescent. It is more efficient than a CFL, but looks and performs like incandescent.

Q. How does the LR6 output compare to fluorescent?

A. The LR6 has a comparable delivered lumen output to an 18W or 26W CFL depending on the type of recessed downlight utilized.

Q. How does the LR6 output compare to an incandescent?

A. The LR6 has a comparable delivered lumen output to a 65 Watt BR30, 50W PAR30, or a 100W A-lamp when installed in typical 6" downlights.
